Our History
Jean Isbell founded the mission (Cruzada del Evangelio de Honduras) in Honduras in 1964. She was a single parent with three children without support of any established church or denomination. The original work was started on the southeast side of the island of Roatan, (Islas de la Bahia) in the village of Oak Ridge. Roatan is approximately 30 miles north of the mainland of Honduras.
Sister Jean, as everyone called her, went to train a small group of ladies who were not aware of what the Bible had to say in regards to them raising their families according to the Christian principles spoken of in the Bible. She had no church or home to go to and only $75/month to feed her family.
Her children took correspondence courses in order to fulfill the school requirements in the U.S. A. Her oldest son was 14 years old. Her two daughters were 12 and 10 years old.
After 27 years of service, Sister Jean went to be with the Lord in 1991. She had established 76 churches in those years. Her son, Dan Isbell, became the President of the mission. Today the mission has grown to include various extensions of ministry to the Whole Man. The list below will name some of them.
200 churches- most of these are located along the northern coast, on the islands, and in the mountains and jungles of the interior sections of Honduras.
Started bi-lingual schools.
School for the deaf.

We have averaged 25,000-30,000 medical treatments each year for over 28 years.
We have provided wells for many in the jungles and we also provide purification systems to entire communities.

Medical, Educational, Humanitarian, Construction, and Ministerial teams from America come on a regular basis to encourage the people and bring them the Good News of the Gospel throughout the year. The majority of these teams are usually people that have come on a regular basis throughout the years and are well accepted by the people.
Bible training Jungle Bible School directed by Frank Monterossa and family. This school is located in the jungles of Gracias A Dios,
A new bible training center led by John Taylor and located in the Department of Colon.
We have a ministry to 17-20 high-risk girls. They are living on our compound in LaCeiba. They are housed, fed, schooled, and trained to be young ladies that love the Lord and that are protected from some of the harsh realities that they would face if we hadn’t brought them out of their former villages. Most of them will have enough training to obtain jobs, enabling them to make a living for themselves. They will potentially become some of the future mothers and wives to the Christian leaders in our churches.
We have overseen hundreds of building projects.
Evangelism /spiritual training is now and has always been our focal point in reaching the Honduran people with the Gospel of Christ.
Our Mission
To provide the necessary education, and provision for those ministers who live alongside the local people and share the Gospel. We are and will continue in serving and helping provide the practical support to meet their daily needs. This would include but not limited to: building Churches, Vocational/Technical schools, by-lingual Christian schools, feeding kitchens, etc., continue training youth to be leaders, and bringing medical and dental doctors to provide their professional services to regional populations.
